Italian red wine is the ultimate expression of the country's oenological variety: from Barolo to Brunello, from Aglianico to Nero d'Avola.
Red wine represents the majority of Italy's fine wine production. Made from black-skinned grapes with skin maceration during fermentation, it comes in countless styles: from the great ageworthy reds (Barolo, Brunello di Montalcino, Amarone, Taurasi) to easy-drinking reds (Dolcetto, Lambrusco).
Italy produces red wines in all 20 of its regions, with native grapes unique in the world: Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, Aglianico, Montepulciano, Nero d'Avola, Negroamaro, Primitivo and many others.
