Negroamaro

Negroamaro is the great red grape of Salento: a name that evokes its deep colour (black) and bitterish finish. It produces warm, structured, Mediterranean wines.

Characteristics and history

Negroamaro is the most widespread red grape of Salento (Apulia). It produces wines of intense colour, full body, high alcohol (13-15%), robust tannins, a profile of sour cherry, plum in spirit, tobacco and a slightly bitterish finish. It is the basis of Salice Salentino DOC and Brindisi DOC.
