Lambrusco

Lambrusco is the most famous sparkling red of Emilia-Romagna: a group of grapes producing effervescent, food-friendly wines, a symbol of Emilian cuisine.

Characteristics and history

Lambrusco is in fact a group of grapes (Lambrusco di Sorbara, Salamino, Grasparossa, Maestri). All produce sparkling red wines of an intense violet colour (except Sorbara, which is paler), with sustained acidity and an excellent match for the rich Emilian cuisine (Parmesan, cured meats).
