Red wine that "plays" between sea and mountains

After talking about Moio 57 we travel up the boot towards the east and stop in the Marche region, specifically at the young cantine Velenosi.

A wine that puts itself in play
The wine we will talk about is Ludi 2009, another full-bodied red but more delicate than Moio 57, a blend of Montepulciano 50%, Cabernet Sauvignon 30% and Merlot 20%.
The name of this wine is meant to represent, according to the winery, their "putting themselves in play", playing with the Latin origin found in the word ludus; the beautiful and elegant black label with golden details also expresses the essence of the playful moment.
A playful person like me couldn't resist trying it!

A chance encounter
My "encounter" with this wine was entirely by chance: during a work period in the beautiful, green and underappreciated Marche region, I had the pleasure of meeting a very friendly young man who was a department manager at the La grande I – Finiper hypermarket, a wine enthusiast like me and an excellent connoisseur.
He recommended this product, but I decided not to buy it – not right away at least!
On the sad day of farewell to this region that stayed in my heart for its people, its beauty, its dishes and its wines, I decided to take this wine with me to celebrate my return home – a choice that could not have been better. I never heard from that young man again, but I feel compelled to write THANK YOU CARLO.

A particular production method
After destemming, the grapes are conveyed into 100 Hl stainless steel fermentation tanks, equipped with a programmable pump-over system (to achieve maximum results in color extraction and wine softness) and temperature control (26-28°C). Maceration on the skins lasts approximately 20-25 days. After fermentation, the wine is placed in new barriques sourced from various artisan French cooperages for approximately 18 months. The various wine varieties are kept separate until the moment of blending, which takes place after a careful selection of the products in barriques.

Color, aroma and flavor
The color is ruby red; on the nose it offers broad, fragrant aromas, fruity and intense. Letting it breathe slightly, it is possible to pick up herbal notes such as thyme and rosemary, closing with hints of dark chocolate and spices.
Ludi has an enveloping taste – strong and decisive, with soft and velvety tannins, persistent, with a finish that recalls spices. A wine that intoxicates the palate.

A wine that is anything but ordinary
Another wine certainly worth recommending – it won't let you down;
Ludi is not a very well-known wine; even people from the Marche region are unaware of having a product like this.

Pairings:
Excellent with elaborate pasta dishes, such as a Lasagna richly dressed with meat, tomato sauce and béchamel, and for a pairing with local products also with the addition of truffle.

Cost and rating
The cost of the bottle is higher than the previous wine and ranges from 23 to 30 euros at a wine shop – money well spent, trust me!
