The Galluccio DOC is an appellation in the province of Caserta, in Campania. It was recognised on 4 August 1997. It covers three styles, a white, a rosé and a red, plus the Riserva of the red, and rests on two grapes: Falanghina for the white and Aglianico for the red and the rosé. The minimum alcohol for the appellation is 11%.
The white
Galluccio Bianco comes from at least 70% Falanghina. The rest may come from other non-aromatic white grapes allowed in the area.
The red, the Riserva and the rosé
The Rosso and the Rosato come from at least 70% Aglianico, completed by other non-aromatic red grapes. The Rosso ages about seven months and is released from 1 June of the year after the harvest. The Riserva ages at least two years, including 12 months in barrel, and is released from 1 November of the second year after the harvest.
In the province of Caserta
The same province is also home to Falerno del Massico, which also uses Falanghina and Aglianico, together with Primitivo, and Aversa, the Asprinio white, across the provinces of Caserta and Naples.
