Oliviero Toscani against the Venetians: those who live by wine

Oliviero Toscani is a figure who certainly doesn't go unnoticed.
A revolutionary advertiser behind the success of many advertising campaigns for Chanel, Fiorucci, Prébatal and Benetton; he also collaborated with magazines of the caliber of Vogue.

Founder of the magazine Colors and of the international center for the arts and research of modern communication Fabrica.
Oliviero Toscani has always been a provocateur: he has done so through his photos, his advertisements, and even more often through statements that frequently end up offending someone!
The good Oliviero has also owned, since 1970, the cantina OTWINE where he produces, in the province of Pisa, OT (Sirah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot) and quadratorosso (Sirah, Teroldego, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot).

Oliviero's latest controversy arose with the Venetians, whom he called "a people of drunkards and alcoholics" during an interview on the program La Zanzara on Radio24; words that were not well received by Zaia, governor of Veneto, nor by those present.
It is curious that precisely someone like the Lega governor, who built the success of a party on similar if not worse statements, should complain about an outburst of this kind; it seems inconsistent to us.
We didn't like it either, just as we never liked so many words spoken against the South (including by Oliviero Toscani himself, who some time ago said "It's a gift to have been born in Milan, I could have been born in Portici or Scampia. Sometimes being born 50 meters this way or 50 meters that way is a disaster").
The good Oliviero then explained "it was just a joke" and quipped: "In Florence they don't say 'andemo a bever un'ombretta'" recalling once again the link between the Venetian dialect and wine.
However, we also feel compelled to defend the photographer: have you listened to the full interview?
