Ribolla Gialla

Ribolla Gialla is the ancient white grape of the Friulian Collio: it produces fresh, aromatic wines and macerated "orange" versions.

Characteristics and history

Ribolla Gialla is a native grape of the eastern hills of Friuli, documented since the 13th century. It produces wines of a golden straw-yellow colour, sustained acidity, a profile of pear, white flowers and citrus. In recent years it has been a protagonist of the "orange wine" movement, with vinifications involving long maceration on the skins.
