the sparkling wine for lounge environments
Lounge from the very bottle, Astoria 9.5 Cold Wine Brut is a unique product, and you can tell just from the bottle itself – very modern and eye-catching, totally opaque white with black polka dots and black lettering, no frills, just simplicity that ends up sparking great curiosity. To be honest, I came to this prosecco with some prejudice; I was expecting the classic good-looking and modern outside, lacking quality inside – a sort of water and sugar in a pretty bottle!
Yet I confess my curiosity to drink it was piqued, and I decided to try it in the setting for which it was conceived: a lounge bar. Despite the targeting intended by Astoria, it would be a shame to waste this product by confining it to a niche and a single consumption occasion.
On a rating scale from one to five, I would place this sparkling wine between three and four – I recommend it.
Extracted from its elegant, modern and innovative packaging, it presents a straw yellow color with a fruity and delicate aroma. It should be served at a maximum temperature of 5/6 degrees Celsius to fully appreciate its qualities. On the palate it has a firm, dry flavor and proves more pleasant than many traditional products.
A sparkling wine worth trying!
A traditional consumer would probably never buy it – and that is perhaps a mistake; in fact, it certainly is!
A lounge bar product, suited to trendy little venues, but one I would not discourage using in other settings. Suitable for both women and men, I always keep a few bottles on hand to attract attention with its appearance and to surprise those who don't expect it. Where and with what to drink it.
Excellent as an aperitivo, appropriate paired with antipasti, and some recommend it alongside fish-based dishes, especially when baked. It has an alcohol content between 9 and 10 degrees and the retail cost ranges between 5 and 7 euros. My advice to everyone is to try it and judge it only after tasting. Astoria also produces the sweet version, 9.5 Cold Wine Pink, official partner of the 2012 Giro d'Italia cycling race.
