Vinitaly 2023 closes its doors with a total of 93,000 attendees, nearly a third of whom came from abroad. Growth compared to the last edition was driven primarily by an increase of over 20% in participation from buyers coming from 143 different foreign countries. More than 45,000 tastings were also held, a 50% increase compared to the 2022 edition.

The President of Veronafiere, Federico Bricolo, made no effort to conceal his satisfaction, highlighting that the event had now reached full capacity, with broad participation from industry operators, press, and institutions. Particularly pleased with the positive response from businesses and regions, he stated that the goal is to build, together with institutional partners, a permanent and coordinated promotional platform capable of attracting both incoming investment into Italy and promoting Italian products abroad.

The CEO of Veronafiere, Maurizio Danese, reinforced this message by emphasizing how Vinitaly can become increasingly decisive for the business turnover of exhibitors who invest in the fair. This is confirmed by the growing match between supply and demand, with over 11,000 scheduled meetings between exhibitors and buyers on the "Vinitaly plus" platform, in addition to those arranged directly between companies and buyers. Danese concluded that Vinitaly will increasingly become a fundamental vehicle for Made in Italy, both at home and abroad, with a view to developing the wine sector and its businesses.

A few more figures that attest to the success of Verona's wine event. Among the countries most represented in terms of attendance, the United States leads by a wide margin over Germany, which comes in second place. Third and fourth place go to the United Kingdom and China respectively, the latter finally returning to significant participation numbers. Canada ranks fifth in terms of attendance. More broadly, while European market growth remains solid, Asia more than doubled its presence, driven above all by China and Japan. More modest attendance increases were recorded from the Americas.

The fair in Verona thus draws to a close, but we are already looking ahead to the next edition of Vinitaly, scheduled from April 14 to 17, 2024.
