The fifty-sixth edition of Vinitaly concluded with numbers that clearly speak to the success of the event. From April 14 to 17, 2024, visitors who filled the halls of the Fiera came close to the 100,000 mark (97,000 attendees), with over 30% coming from 140 foreign countries.
The largest contingents came from the USA, Germany, Great Britain, China, and Canada. Vinitaly's path toward internationalization, confirmed by these figures as well, follows a precise plan that has enabled the selection of foreign buyers while simultaneously strengthening Vinitaly's presence in the key markets for Italian wine around the world.
The president of Veronafiere, Federico Bricolo, whose mandate ends in 2025, outlined the main objectives that had been set and achieved: "This edition of the event helps shine an even brighter spotlight on Italian wine, which has its trade fair brand in Vinitaly. Following the logic of global promotion, we completed a world tour across 18 cities in 15 different countries lasting over six months, in order to carefully select the key buyers to invite to Vinitaly."
The stands across the pavilions occupying the 10 hectares of the fairground were entirely filled by over 4,000 exhibitors, confirming Vinitaly as a fundamental driver of business projects aimed at promoting wine both in Italy and in foreign markets. Adding weight to this view, Maurizio Danese, CEO of Veronafiere: "We are firmly convinced that we can do a great deal to benefit the wine and viticulture sector, of which we consider ourselves an integral part. In a global context as challenging as today's, we feel compelled to respond to the needs of the fair's investors.
The keyword 'business' must necessarily be linked to an 'awareness' of a strategic asset for the Italian and European economy." From the balance sheet and declarations of success, we look forward to the next appointment at Vinitaly 2025, once again in Verona from April 6 to 9.
