A winery that needs no introduction. Among the pioneers of Franciacorta, Ca' del Bosco demonstrates every year that its spumanti represent an archetype of production in this territory, wines always capable of surprising and moving at the same time.
Across more than 150 hectares of vineyards on moraine soils, some vines trained to Cordone Speronato reach monstrous densities of 10,000 plants per hectare, with a minimum distance between plants that creates genuine competition among them for the nutritional substances contained in the soil. The low vineyard yields, the manual selection and harvesting of grape clusters, and the meticulous work in the brand-new cellar complete the profile of these Franciacorta di qualità assoluta.
Before the Cuvée Anna Maria Clementi, we tasted the surprising Vintage Collection Satèn, Brut and Dosage Zéro, Franciacorta born from a careful selection of grapes and a vinification in line with the directives and history of the winery.
Franciacorta Vintage Collection Satèn 2009
A luminous straw yellow in color, it presents a very delicate and evidently high-quality perlage. The nose is complex, with striking fruity notes of tropical fruits, pineapple, acacia flowers, vegetal nuances, and yeast. The palate is elegant, with freshness and sapidity well balanced by a silky softness that envelops the entire mouth. 48 months on the lees before disgorgement.
Franciacorta Vintage Collection Brut 2009
It shows a straw yellow color more intense than the previous sample, luminous and gleaming, with beautiful numerous, persistent, and particularly fine bubbles. We perceive clear notes of bread-baking alongside exotic fruit, citrus, and toasted hints on the finish. A very beautiful palate, with the effervescence cleansing the mouth and leaving a retro-olfactory trail of yeast. Lees that remain for four years in the bottle before dégorgement.
Franciacorta Vintage Collection Dosage Zéro 2009
Straw yellow with golden, luminous reflections, the wine displays a perlage with numerous, very persistent, and fine bubbles. On the nose, aromas of yeast, bread crust, peach, yellow flowers, and hazelnut on the finish stand out. The gustatory profile is characterized by a fresh-savory component that prevails over softness and is enhanced in the gustatory-olfactory length. The wine receives no addition of liqueur d'expédition during the dégorgement phase. With residual sugar close to zero, like the previous two samples, it rests for at least 48 months on the lees.
Franciacorta Cuvée Anna Maria Clementi Riserva 2005
A marvelous brilliant golden yellow, the perlage is composed of beautiful numerous, persistent, and particularly fine and elegant bubbles. An enormous nose where notes of yeast, bakery, exotic fruit in jam, acacia honey stand out, as well as aromatic herbs and a balsamic note on the finish. A wine balanced in its soft and fresh-savory components, but which strikes above all in its length, measurable in minutes during which notes of yeast and ripe fruit return. A Cuvée from grapes sourced from multiple vineyards and dedicated to the winery's founder, it rests for at least 84 months on the lees. It is a Franciacorta of great class, truly unforgettable. A wine I would call timeless, absolute.
All Franciacorta of excellent craftsmanship, the Cuvée Anna Maria Clementi is moving and memorable. And we are left with the awareness of a tasting that, at least in the near term, will be difficult to repeat.
