The Festa dell'Uva 2026 in Chiusi opens on Friday 18 September and takes over the old town until Sunday 27. The 43rd Festa dell'Uva e del Vino is split into a seven-day preview and the closing weekend, with the Enoteca dei Terzieri, tastings, taverns, pop-up cellars, local cooking and music.
Festa dell'Uva 2026: when to go to Chiusi
The calendar unfolds in two stages. From 18 to 24 September comes "Aspettando la Festa dell'Uva e del Vino", with Piazza Duomo as the meeting point for the Enoteca, the aperitifs and the tasting events.
From Friday 25 to Sunday 27 September the festival enters its main phase and spreads through the old town with the opening of the cellars and taverns of the three Terzieri of Santa Maria, San Silvestro and Sant'Angelo.
The motto chosen for the 43rd edition is "Storti, ma con il bicchiere dritto" – crooked, but with the glass held straight.
On Friday 18 and Saturday 19 the programme starts with Bisbocciando, the street food of Chiusi's restaurateurs. The Enoteca dei Terzieri opens on both days from 6 pm in Piazza Duomo, with DJ sets.
Where to taste wine during the Festa dell'Uva in Chiusi
For those coming mainly for the wine, the place to be is the Enoteca dei Terzieri. Tastings are held with sommeliers on hand, alongside a series of events pairing wine and food.
Sunday 20 brings a journey through Swiss cheeses. On Monday 21 the "Tre zuppe, tre calici" evening – three soups, three glasses – pairs the dishes of La Solita Zuppa with the wines of Cantina Terra Antica.
On Tuesday 22 September the Enoteca hosts an event dedicated to cheese from the Sorrento Peninsula, paired with the wines of Cantina Mastroianni of Montalcino. Places for the 21 and 22 September events are limited and booking is required at the Chiusi Tourist Office.
On Wednesday 23 the Enoteca stays open for the aperitif, while on 24 September the preview closes with the Enoteca, Faust Food and a performance by the Teatro Popolare Sant'Angelo at Porta Lavinia.
From 25 September: taverns, cellars and Chiusi's cooking
The main weekend begins on Friday 25 September. The Enoteca and the cellars open from 6 pm, and in the evening the taverns of the three Terzieri come to life.
The announced menus feature hand-made pici, lake fish, meat grilled on the focone and recipes from the local tradition, alongside the Faust Food offering.
Music runs through the old town at the same time: Friday brings the P-Funking Band and Chiusi Swing Night with Rock Your Boogie. Saturday 26 is the turn of the Zastava Orkestar and Circo Nero, with cellars, Enoteca and taverns open once again.
Over the weekend the pop-up cellars also return, housed in venues around the old town.
Sunday 27: lunch in the taverns and the Giochi de' Citti
The final day starts earlier than the others. On Sunday 27 September the Enoteca and the cellars open from noon and the taverns also serve lunch.
At 3 pm come the Giochi de' Citti e del Tempo che Fu, the traditional games, preceded by a display by the Gruppo Sbandieratori e Tamburini dei Terzieri, the flag-throwers and drummers. The afternoon is also accompanied by Anarchia Ritmica and the Magicaboola Brass Band.
In the evening the Taverna del Terziere Sant'Angelo and the street food stay open, while Piazza Duomo hosts the closing concert.
Which wines will be at the Festa dell'Uva 2026?
It is the piece of information that matters most to anyone planning their tastings, but for now the full 2026 wine list has not yet been published.
The organisers present the Enoteca dei Terzieri as the space dedicated to wines and producers, with sommeliers on hand, but the updated list of labels is still being finalised.
Some of the protagonists of the guided events are already known: Terra Antica will be at the pairing on 21 September and Mastroianni at the one on 22 September.
For those choosing Chiusi above all for the tasting, the thing to keep an eye on in the coming days is therefore the Enoteca's 2026 list: that is what will reveal which territories, appellations and producers can really be compared in the glass.
