The art of seduction goes through wine – here's the survey we've been waiting for
In vino veritas: not always!
Seduction is a complex game and everyone faces it in their own way, some rely on charm, others on physical appearance and so on. One thing is certain: for conquests of a certain kind, culture is essential – and wine has been culture since the beginning of time.
Knowing wines is a sign of knowledge, sophistication and experience; too bad you can't just become an expert overnight!
So in this difficult game of chess, there are those who bluff by relying on a wine recommended by friends and extolling its characteristics by repeating opinions they've heard, those who bet on the expensive bottle, those who pretend not to enjoy it because that wine (perhaps excellent and paid for at a premium) isn't up to their standards!
The fact remains that one in three men lies! 27% of British males surveyed by Ask Jeeves fakes competent attitudes in areas they actually know nothing about: politics, music, culture and of course wine.
The survey reveals interesting differences between age groups: only 14% of women, for example, adopt behaviors to appear more intelligent than they actually are. The seasoned fibbing man claims to prefer classical music to pop, says he frequents art galleries, flaunts political discourse as if it were clothing, and shares on social networks articles he's never read and learned quotes that often contradict his own way of living.
Beware of imitations!
