Gianni e Silvia Scaglione, through their work and constant commitment, carry forward an ambitious project. A project that, step by step, has led their estate to become BIO in 2007 and at the same time a WWF-recognized OASIS, the first in Italy established within a working farm.
A path that is certainly demanding and allows no exceptions, but which, while leaving the quality of their products unchanged, manages to create the right symbiosis between people and the land.
Low mechanization in the vineyard, respect for nature and its biodiversity are certainly not synonymous with backwardness – quite the opposite!
The wines produced are the fruit of constant research aimed at achieving excellence. The national and international recognition they have received confirms that the path taken is the right one. But as always happens in the world of wine, the result that truly counts for a producer is the response of the consumer, and this has always been decidedly positive – to the point of creating genuine admirers of their wines.
The estate is located in Loazzolo, a small village above the historic town of Canelli, in the "Langa Astigiana", a strip of hills extending along the border between the provinces of Asti and Cuneo.
A decidedly rugged territory, yet one that has always been recognized for its high viticultural vocation, thanks to its characteristic microclimate and its calcareous-marly soil – factors that lend rare finesse to the wines produced.
The estate has just over 9 hectares of vineyard, from which a total of 45,000 bottles are produced across various types, all strictly made from estate-grown grapes.
The wines produced at the estate are deeply rooted in the traditions of the territory, such as:
Barbera d'Asti D.O.C.G. "Mon Ross", a pure Barbera with a beautiful ruby red color; on the nose it expresses all the vivacity of its youth, with broad fruity and floral notes, fresh and intense on the palate – a wine for any occasion.
Monferrato Rosso D.O.C. "Le Grive", a refined and elegant blend of 80% Barbera and 20% Pinot Nero, aged in small oak barrels for approximately 12 months, which gives it roundness and balance.
Brachetto Passito "Pian dei Sogni", a passito version of the aromatic Brachetto variety, with a ruby red color and garnet reflections; on the nose it expresses its full aromatic character with notes of dried rose and raspberry jam – best served chilled (12°–14°) and an excellent pairing with hazelnut cake or chocolate.
Moscato d'Asti D.O.C.G. "Piasa San Maurizio", a wine that charms from the very first glance with its straw yellow color and gentle fizz; its lively floral aromas, its streak of acidity, and its restrained alcohol content (5.5% vol) make it the ideal wine for leavened desserts.
Loazzolo D.O.C. "Forteto della Luja", the true gem of the estate… A passito for meditation of rare finesse. The color and aromas serve as elegant companions to its velvety softness. A succession of sweet emotions.
