One of the things I like least is leaving leftover wine in the bottle!
I'm terrified that its qualities might deteriorate, especially if it's a sparkling wine or a vino spumante.
There are many solutions, traditional and innovative, ranging from the mythical "teaspoon" inserted in the neck of the bottle as if it were a stopper, to the classic plastic cork, all the way to layers of cellophane over the mouth of the container.
Young Texan Mitchell Strahan and his mother, however, thought of something more imaginative!
It's the Wine Condom "The wine condom: protection for lovers" (official claim)!
A somewhat irreverent stopper made of black rubber that serves to "preserve" already-opened wines!
Each package contains 10 or 25 Wine Condoms that can be reused up to two times.
An undeniable advantage of the Wine Condom is that it adapts to every bottle shape without increasing its height (which could make refrigerator storage difficult), and of course it generates smiles and laughter among friends!
For now it's a project seeking investors, but the promotional video, launched on kickstarter.com, has already gone viral.
After all, it's not the first time someone has tried to innovate, in a quirky way, in the world of "stoppers": we recall the cork that automatically seals the bottle (ideal for the absent-minded!), the one with a combination lock (what's more valuable than the last sip of a wine we've loved!), and even the one that reminds you when you last opened that bottle.
Not our problem, since we prefer to finish the wine down to the very last drop!
