Piandaccoli is a classic example of Tuscany terroir, the core of the Chianti production area.

The morphological land over which the Piandoccoli vineyards extend is entirely based on Pliocene deposits and the marine neogenic cycle that characterised the plains of the Apennine orogeny creating the typical gentle outline of the hilly lowlands. A gentle outline that is often brought to an abrupt halt by the presence of vertical erosive features which are a characteristic feature especially in the Piandaccoli area: The so-called “ravines“, which are extremely beneficial in bringing a variable to the microclimate in the area, creating ascentional currents that mitigate the hotter summer temperatures.
